News Private investigation clears planning office, LNPCFebruary 3, 2010, 7-47 am By JASMINE LINABARY/West Shore News The results of a third-party investigation into Flathead County Planning and Zoning staff released last week clear planners of allegations of improprieties. This includes accusations of wrongdoings by the Lakeside Neighborhood Plan Committee in the process of developing the plan. "It feels good to be vindicated," LNPC Chair Debbie Spaulding said. RICHARD DUKELOW/Guest columnist In the late 1950s and early 1960s, we were all thrilled by the television antics of the Lone Ranger, his magnificent stallion Silver and his faithful Indian companion Tonto. Galloping across the western plains, the Lone Ranger fought for justice and apprehended (weekly) the bad guys. But no one ever saw the Lone Ranger without his white suit and matching mask. Well, almost no one. In the early 1960s, I was working as the animal husbandman at the North Central Agricultural Experiment Station of the University of Minnesota in Grand Rapids, Minn. The local Itasca County Fair had hired the Lone Ranger (played by Clayton Moore of Minneapolis' to appear at the fair with Silver and be the star attraction. Full Story

Sports Mustangs fall to Bigfork in first gameSeptember 23, 2009, 10-30 am By Jacob Doran/For the WSN The Somers Mustangs played their first game of the season against Bigfork last Thursday, falling behind in the second half after keeping pace with the rival team for most of the first half. The final score left Somers with 12 points on the board to Bigfork's 28. Somers showed the Vikings that they could play hard early on, with teammates Dallas Grimes and Tanner Mack both scoring touchdowns. Grimes also showed his talent as a running back by making a couple of runs against Bigfork, moving the ball easily across the field and into Mustang territory. Full Story
