Local school districts will have several seats on their boards up for grabs during the election in May.

Forms are now available for those interested in running for the positions in either the Bigfork School District or Swan River School District.

Three positions will be up for election on the Bigfork board, all for three-year terms. The positions are currently held by Doug Fraley, Paul Sandry and Dave Carlson. One of the positions, that held by Carlson, must be held by someone from the Swan Lake area. The other two are required to live in the elementary district.

Two three-year positions will be opened up on the Swan River School board for the election. Those include the positions held by Tamus Gannon and Michael Wynne.

Petitions for both boards are due to the respective district clerk by no later than 4 p.m. March 24. Petitions must have the signatures of five qualified voters from the specified district. The election will be held May 3.

For voters, registration continues through April 3. Voter registration cards are available at the Bigfork School District office but must be returned to either the Flathead or Lake county election department by that date. Absentee ballots will be available April 13.

For more information, call Swan River School at 837-4528 or call the Bigfork School District at 837-7400.
