Friday night fights was alive for the main event last Friday in Kalispell at the fairgrounds.
“Jesse, Jesse, Jesse,” the crowd shouted.
Every punch Jesse Uhde landed on his opponent was followed by standing ovations and cheers.
It was Uhde’s first professional boxing match. He fought Jesus Vallejo, the former club boxing state champion from Billings, ranked fifth in the Northwest, who Uhde lost to in a match six years ago.
The fight went four rounds, but at the end of the fourth Uhde landed a punch that knocked Vallejo to the ground.
A woozy and determined Vallejo got up shakily and continued to box, only to lose to Uhde by referee determined knock-out.
The fight followed seven fights that pitted Burton Boxing members against the Missoula Dog Pound. Tickets were $15 and helped raise funds for Relay for Life. The next round of fights is scheduled for Feb. 24.
